Justin “Juice” Wallace - Handsome Prick/Juice Pro Wrestling/JPDUB Podcast

March 23rd, 2020

Today I'm joined by future media mogul Justin "Juice" Wallace, live vocalist for grindcore band HANDSOME PRICK as well as host of JUICE PRO WRESTLING and JPDUB PODCAST. This was a really fun and casual conversation that covered a lot of topics: the origin of all his current projects, the status on the upcoming Handsome Prick album, the epic event planned for the 100th episode of Juice Pro Wrestling, and some of the really cool guests his had on his show. Of course, we also talked about sum wrasslin' and UFC, going down a road I haven't traveled on this show yet. So prepare your ear holes, grab a brew, and hang out!

Coke Finlay- Virus

March 16th, 2020

I recently had the opportunity to have an awesome conversation with Coke Finlay from old school UK thrash band Virus about the upcoming Combat Records release of their new album Evilution Apocalypse,  which marks their first full length album in 32 years. Coke was kind enough to indulge me in my questions about the band's history (some of it rocky), his take on the music scene, what he's been doing since the last album, and some recent controversy surrounding some of the band's former members.  We also get a sneak peek at the title track off their new album, so be sure to check this one out and give their Facebook Page a like!

James Murphy

February 18th, 2020

When one thinks of influential metal guitarists, especially those known for their work in the thrash and death genres, a few names come to mind. But perhaps none more so than James (fucking) Murphy. And I was fortunate enough to get James to hang out with me (without even having to drug him) and have a super cool conversation about his epic career. There's a ton of content covered here, a lot of it very personal and very direct. So if you want to get some answers about his time in Death, Obituary, Testament, Disincarnate, and his solo material as well as get the scoop on his work as a producer, session artist, guest soloist, and mastering ninja then stick around and check out this interview.

Kragen Lum- Heathen

January 27th, 2020

It's no secret at this point that I have a nostalgic fondness for music from the 80's and 90s, and the metal scene that grew out of the Bay Area was perhaps the most influential on my guitar playing in my early days of learning. To this day, I still find myself drawn to those early sounds. Fortunately more me, many of those bands are still around. I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to chat with Kragen Lum, who plays in pioneering Bay Area thrash band Heathen. Additionally, he spent considerable time touring live with one of the most legendary bands to come out of that era: the mighty Exodus. Kragen was kind of enough to fill me in on what's going on in the Heathen camp with an upcoming re-release as well as the status of the almost-completed new album. We also talked about his time in Exodus, his former career in the video game industry, and his passion project of transcribing guitar books. This is a really in depth conversation that covers many facets of his career in the music industry. Check it out!

Justin Roth- War Curse

January 20th, 2020

Today's guest is none other than Justin Roth, outspoken guitarist of Cincinnati thrash Band War Curse. Fresh off his tour manager duties with OG thrashers Exodus on their 70,000 tons of metal gig, we had a truly epic (and very long) conversation about his band, his various roles with other heavy hitting bands, his thoughts on what it takes to survive in the industry, and his view on the various double standards that musicians (and people in general) are often held to. We went down quite a few rabbit holes in this one, and Justin's brutal honesty is both surprising and refreshing. Want to know about life on the road and in the studio? Want the origin of War Curse and his relationships with bands like Exodus, Heathen, and Exhorder? Want to know what kinds of people piss him off? Maybe you want to hear about his deep love for Sacred Reich. Still not enough? How an exclusive announcement about what War Curse is up to right now and a friendly game of "Who Sucks More?"  Then armor up and check out this 90 minute pile of awesomeness! #triggerwarning

Ray Currie- Outliar

January 8th, 2020

Picking up where we left off a few months back, heavy-hitting axe wielder Ray Currie from NC metal monsters Outliar Returns to Misery Point Radio to discuss the release of Outliar's new EP Thrashing the Vault, which was unleashed upon the word just a few days ago on Jan 3rd. We talked about the process of recording this EP, how they approached breathing new life into older material, the CD release show, and the upcoming epic show with OG Bay Area legends Vio-Lence. This was a fun conversation, and seeing a previously discussed project finally come to life was definitely awesome. So when you get done listening to Nothin But A Good Time (Ray's personal favorite song of all time) check this one out!

Paul Ray- False Prophet

January 1st, 2020

Happy New Year!

To celebrate the first episode of 2020, I am joined once again by Paul Ray from NC metal pioneers False Prophet. We covered a lot of ground in this conversation: Their recent tour with Obituary, the release of their new Self-Titled EP (the first official recordings in almost 30 years), their experiences working with legendary producer (and Misery Point Guest) Jamie King, and their reunion with OG drummer Raymond Martin. An awesome conversation with a super cool dude. Do yourself a favor and check this one out!

Chris Hubbard- Thirteenth Sign

November 25th, 2019

I  was recently introduced to UK metal band Thirteenth Sign, and I became an instant fan. In a fantastic turn of cosmic fate, I happened to be recently acquainted with guitarist Chris Hubbard, one of the founding members, and I was stoked when he agreed to come on the show. We had an awesome chat about the origins of the band, their innovative style, their songwriting process, their various lineup changes, and their upcoming album. Chris also dropped an exclusive bit of news regarding their upcoming album, which got me even more pumped up about this band than I already was. This is an insanely talented band, and I'm excited to share this one with you. A fair bit of warning, the Skype Audio was not playing nice on this one, but it's still thoroughly enjoyable and more than listenable. Also, this will mark the last new episode of the year for Misery Point Radio, so take this opportunity to close out the year with a treat from across the globe!

Joe Castro-Film Director/Producer/Special Effects Supervisor

November 5th, 2019

Today I was honored to have Hollywood filmmaker and special effects guru Joe Castro join me for an epic conversation about his amazing life in the film industry. We went down many rabbit holes in this long conversation, covering many facets of his career: His origin story and how he got going in the business, his personal struggles that drove him to succeed against all odds, his diverse and exciting roles as a producer, director, writer, and special effects artist, and some of the finer details about some of his projects he's created. And for my musically inclined followers, we also dove into the fact that Joe is a huge music fan, and he shared some really awesome stories about his love for bands like Iron Maiden, Dio, King Diamond, and Slayer and how those bands and more inspired him to create some of his early masterpieces. And of course the many other artists like Moby that inspire him today. This is one of my longest interviews to date, and it is packed with so much good stuff I promise you don't want to miss any of it. Especially the part about stretchy scrotums. This might go on to be one of the most quoted episodes yet. So prepare yourself for piles of post-Halloween Awesomeness!
