Today's guest is John Duke from Canadian metal outfit VOTOV, whose latest album I.X.X.I is absolutely dripping with OSDM awesomeness. John and I had an awesome chat about the band as well as the details surrounding the band's name, the meaning of the their latest album title, how it will tie in to future works, and how the band is taking the OSDM style to new levels of greatness. We also discussed his other project Immortal Possession (which includes all current members of VOTOV), their plans to finally release a proper full length album, how the band differs from VOTOV, and why now is the right time to relive the past. And of course we had to dish about VOTOV's cover of Twisted Sister's "The Beast" and their plans for and EP of epic cover songs.

Today's guest is live concert photo artist and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Kyle Kazlaw. Kyle's photo art is insanely popular and is quickly gaining traction in the music scene . We had an awesome chat about his photos, the artists and bands he's captured (Overkill, False Prophet, Druid Lord, Massacre, Immolation, and more), the recent Living Monstrosity/Symbolic show, his design company Kyle Kazlaw Creative, and of course his musical endeavors and influences. Happy New Year! Welcome back to The Wasteland, hope you all had a great holiday season! I'm excited to get this New Year launched by sharing a conversation with Gary Groves, bassist and co-conspirator for the UK-based Metal Maelstrom Coalition. In addition to talking about all things MMC (Including their impressive roster of both present and upcoming guests), we also dove down a rabbit hole talking about the new Iron Maiden album, Megadeth, Metallica fandom, and I force Gary to make impossible choices between musicians. I'm joined today by Kelly Shaefer, vocalist and founder of legendary OG technical metal pioneers Atheist as well as the newly formed cross-genre metal band Till The Dirt. Kelly and I had a blast talking about the early days of the scene, the evolution of Atheist, and the status of the long-ago-confirmed new Atheist material. We also did a deep-dive into his newest project, Till The Dirt, and play an early-access demo track of one of the songs from their upcoming debut album.
