Misery Point Radio was born from the desire to share music, art and creative expression with the world. Initially intended as a vehicle to showcase local bands from the Seattle area, the show has grown to include interviews with bands and artists from all over the world. And while the focus is predominantly Heavy Metal and all of its myriad subgenres, there have also been a variety of guests from other genres such as rock, punk, Americana, and acoustic as well as a ton of non-musical artists including comic book creators, illustrators, authors, filmmakers, poets, producers, radio and podcast hosts, and more! I was recently introduced to Thirteenth Sign, a UK-based band that spans the gray areas between power, thrash, and death metal. So I was dead chuffed when guitarist Chris Hubbard agreed to come on the show. Today we take another trip overseas, this time to hang out in Dundee, Scotland with Coke Finlay from old school UK thrash Band Virus. I had a blast chatting with Coke about the origin of the band and its tumultuous early days, the evolution of the band's style and approach to the industry, the UK and worldwide metal scene, his relationship with Combat Records, and of course the upcoming release of their new album Evilution Apocalypse. We also went down a pretty deep rabbit hole where Coke let loose on his feelings about his previous band members and their attempt to simultaneously operate under the Virus name. Today I'm hanging out with Drew Durham, guitarist of epic NC thrash band NeverFall. Drew and I discussed all things NeverFall: the origin of the band, the formation of their signature old-school sound, the recording and release of their debut album Blood and Honor, the NC metal scene, some crazy shenanigans involving cancelled show bookings, and the status of their upcoming EP Admit One. NeverFall have quickly gained a reputation as major players in the underground circuit and are known to put on awesome live shows.
